Vicki, Kelly and Amanda Wilson are prominent figures on the equestrian scene, having competed with success at the highest levels of show jumping for many years.

Since 2012, the sisters have also become widely known for their work with wild horses with the top-rating TV show ‘Keeping up with the Kaimanawas’, two documentaries, and seven best-selling novels about their work taming the New Zealand Kaimanawas, American Mustangs and Australian Brumbies.

More recently Vicki has become internationally recognised for her horse training after winning ‘Road to the Horse’, the World Championships of Colt Starting in 2017. Vicki’s ‘Sore Horse’ clinics are also in high demand around the world, as she strives to share her in depth knowledge about rehabilitating and identifying behavioural and soundness issues in horses.”

VICKI WILSON

Vicki Wilson is one of New Zealand’s most successful and well respected show jump riders and is known for her competitive edge and her ability to get the best from her horses. In the 2013- 2014 season she won 10 Grand Prix classes and placed in another 12, and at the 2014 Horse of the Year she won the Premier Stakes and 6-Year-Old title as well as claiming the Lowry Medallion for the fifth time and the Nationwide Cup for her seventh year, more than any other rider in history.

Vicki is well regarded for her versatility and has won many national titles across the Show Jumping, Show Hunter, and Showing disciplines, has represented New Zealand in the winning Trans Tasman Young Rider team three times and has competed to 1.40m riding under the New Zealand flag in Europe with many wins and placings.

Although highly regarded for her team of show jumpers, Vicki is equally well known for her work with the wild Kaimanawas. Since 2012, alongside her sisters Kelly and Amanda, she has saved almost 30 wild horses from slaughter and trained them. In 2013 they gained global recognition winning the prestigious FEI Solidarity Award. Their work features in the documentary ‘Wind Eaters’ and the television Series ‘Keeping Up with the Kaimanawas’ both to be released in 2015.

AMANDA WILSON

Amanda Wilson’s partnership with her famed pintos has cemented her as one of New Zealand’s most promising show jump riders. Showtym Viking first bought her into the public eye by winning the 2010 Pony of the Year Grand Prix before going on to win many Young Rider and Grand Prix classes to 1.50m. More recently she has produced Showtym Cassanova to success at Grand Prix, Super League and World Cup (1.40m – 1.60m) level and the duo have won and placed at the highest level.

Amanda has a passion for young horses because she loves to start with a blank canvas. Her gentle approach to working with horses produces highly effective results and she has earned a reputation for producing some of the best young horses on the show jumping circuit. In 2013 she was runner up in the 4-Year-Old Title at the National Breeders Championships and in 2014 she won the National 5-Year-Old Series on Showtym Rebel who she started under saddle as a stallion the winter before.

Amanda also has a passion for film and in 2012, alongside her sisters Vicki and Kelly, she saved 11 wild horses from slaughter and filmed their journey for the upcoming documentary Wind Eaters – it is her directorial debut and is due to be released in late 2015. In 2014 the documentary gained the interest of New Zealand’s leading television network and their work with 12 horses from the 2014 muster was filmed for the brand new television series ‘Keeping Up with the Kaimanawas’ which went on air in June 2015.

KELLY WILSON

Kelly Wilson grew up with horses and competed with success across the disciplines, including show jumping to Pony Grand Prix level before pursuing her creative talents. In 2009 she graduated from Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Graphic Design. Over the past six years Kelly has become a highly sought after freelance designer, award-winning photographer, best selling author and equine journalist.

Kelly competes her mare Ngahiwi Showtym Dancer with success in open classes to 1.25m and in the Amateur Rider Series. In 2014 she competed in the Kaimanawa Stallion Challenges and finished in the top 5 on her wild stallion CopRice Anzac KH.

In her free time Kelly enjoys writing and her first book, ‘For the Love of Horses’, was published by Penguin-Random and follows the Wilson sisters inspiring journey to save New Zealand’s wild horses. She is currently working on her second book ‘Keeping up with the Kaimanawas’ which is based on their TV series of the same name which airs in June 2015.
